Pavilionul României la Bienala de la Veneția

Three times in eighteen years, Romania's national pavilion has effectively been a Cluj pavilion.

2007: Plan B organises Romania's pavilion at the 52nd Biennale, curated by Mihnea Mircan, with Victor Man, Cristi Pogăcean, Mona Vătămanu & Florin Tudor, Christoph Büchel & Giovanni Carmine. That same year, at the Prague Biennale, the term “Cluj School” is used for the first time.

2015: Mihai Pop curates Romania's pavilion at the 56th Biennale, showing work by Adrian Ghenie.

2024: Șerban Savu presents “What Work Is” at the Romanian Pavilion in the Giardini and at the New Gallery of the Romanian Institute of Culture in Venice, supported by Galeria Plan B.

This is not a coincidence that keeps happening. It is the same gallery and the same people, across nearly two decades.
