Șerban Savu was born in Sighișoara in 1978 and graduated from the University of Art and Design in Cluj in 2001. He lives and works in Cluj.

In 2024 he represented Romania at the 60th Venice Biennale with “What Work Is”, in the national pavilion in the Giardini. The curator was Ciprian Mureșan, a graduate of the same university. Savu’s work is in the collections of the Centre Pompidou, SFMOMA and the Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw; he has had solo exhibitions at the Museo Pietro Canonica in Rome (2018) and MNAC Bucharest (2021).

Galeria Plan B represents him. It is the third Romanian pavilion in eighteen years in which Cluj is more than a footnote.
