Where the programme comes from
Every night we read 126 sources from the venues and organisers in Cluj: 59 Facebook pages, 35 Instagram accounts, 13 website calendars (The Events Calendar), 5 Eventbook halls, 5 iabilet pages, 4 institutions’ own websites, 2 museum news feeds, 1 tnc, 1 Resident Advisor, 1 the iabilet listing by genre. An event found in two sources (say, the venue’s page and iabilet) becomes one, with both sources kept. What you see in the city’s programme is what the venues announced, not what we picked.
What “verified” means
Places, anchors and crafts are documented by hand. Each record has a status (verified or in progress), the date it was last checked and its list of sources, each with the date we consulted it. A real example, Teatrul Național Cluj-Napoca : status “verified”, checked on 2026-09-10, 2 sources, including:
- teatrulnationalcluj.ro , consulted 2026-09-10
- dreamstime.com , consulted 2026-10-19
Artist profiles
Profiles are built from the city’s programme: names on the bills go into a register, and a profile becomes visible in Google after three appearances in Cluj, a confirmation from an outside source (Wikidata, MusicBrainz, a theatre company) or once the editors check it. Anyone who wants to complete or correct theirs writes to us.
What an AI model does, and what it does not
We use an AI model for three things: reading the organiser’s text to pull out the names on stage, the music genre and the dates announced; writing an event’s short description; and summarising profiles from facts already gathered. The rule is the same everywhere: only what the source says. The model adds no names, awards or opinions, and places, anchors and journal pieces are written and checked by people.
The photographs
We only use photographs we are allowed to publish, each credited: 23 from Wikimedia Commons with author and licence, 29 licensed from Dreamstime and Depositphotos, and 7 from the venues’ official pages. We never generate photographs of real people.
When we get it wrong
We correct in the open and update the date checked. An example: The Paintbrush Factory closed in 2022, not 2019. A correction, and what actually happened . If you see a mistake, write to the editors.
Who writes
Journal pieces are signed; there are 3 authors, each with a page. BestCluj sells no placement and publishes no paid content.
