The exhibition marks University Day and follows the history of the site now occupied by UBB’s central building, on Mihail Kogălniceanu Street no. 1.

It presents the portraits of emperors Leopold II, Francis II and Ferdinand I of Austria, works now in the collection of the Cluj-Napoca Art Museum. They bring together the imperial administration of Transylvania, the development of the modern University and the formation of Cluj museum collections.

The works were painted between the late eighteenth century and the first half of the nineteenth century, at life size, for the Gubernium of Transylvania. After restoration, the portraits return to the university space.
