Iurie Cojocaru was born in Sadaclia, Moldova, on 17 March 1971. He finished the Cimișlia School of Arts in 1989, studied at the Faculty of Fine Arts and Design of the “Ion Creangă” Pedagogical University in Chișinău, and from 1992 at the University of Art and Design in Cluj-Napoca, where he took his bachelor’s in 1995 and a master’s in painting in 1996, according to the National Art Museum of Moldova.
His painting sits between the figurative and the abstract: tables, angels, columns, windows and trees, built up from many layers of colour. In 2025 his “Right Angle” series was shown at the National Art Museum of Moldova, the Cluj-Napoca Art Museum and in Bistrița; “Vertical Dialogue” was at the Cluj-Napoca Art Museum in 2020.
Iurie Cojocaru also runs the online shop O Galerie de Artă, which sells his work and that of other artists.
